Anyone ever spill coolant on their carpets?

After my expansion tank hose incident a few weeks ago I had been driving around w/ a jug of BMW blue coolant behind my seat just in case. Some how it leaked out after (and i still havent figured out from where) and I thought it was all caught in the rubber winter mats but no such luck. I was just reading past posts about carpet cleaner and hoping that tuff stuff and/or oxy clean will remove this. any thoughts? thanks

I would try one of them carpet cleaners you rent that pump water in the carpet and suck it back out. I dont thing the normal cleaners are gonna cut it.

my favorite way of cleaning car carpets is hit it with a water dilutable engine degreaser, let sit a few minutes and pressure wash then let dry in sun, this usually gets the carpet as close to new as it's going to get

It came out rather easily, with the seats & some trim pulled.

Now I am just imagining Winfred standing outside an E34 with pressure washer in hand blasting away at the carpets on the inside of the car! I have a feeling he is probably talking about cleaning the carpet mats. But then again, it is Winfred!

Here's my trick...

Get a bottle of Shout or equiv. laundry pre-treater, and use that directly on the carpets (out of the car if they're removeable).

Spray the stuff on the stains and work it in with your fingers til it's nice and soapy like.

Use one of those rental rug doctor steam cleaners on it with really hot water, and it will come out looking like new. The laundry pre-treat won't bleach it out, and it will remove coffee, grease, mud, etc.

yep pull it out of the car, generally this is done when major work is being done and it's accessable but it works good on floor mats too, it's not horible to pull the whole thing out if you cut around the ac box
