FINALLY got the car back yesterday after all the head work. Started the car up hunted to find an idle for about 4 oscillations, settled in around 850. The reground cam is quite lopey with a nice motorcycle-like rumble at idle.
What amazed me is how incredibly smooth the car moved through the rev range and the extra power it had. I am thouroughly impressed with the work done on the head. (Including a hiflo valve job and pretty much all new parts except the rockershaft) My shop's cost on the cam work was $200. In case anyone is curious the rest of the work amounted to 23 hours for $1794 and 1243 in parts.
The same tricks could be used on the M30 head I'm sure. It was a ton of money to spend, but the motor runs like a scalded goat. :D
