55 watt wont burn, 55 watt is 55 watt. How many lumens do these claim to be?

They must have 55W. The brightness is another thing. Some claim a brightness of bulbs 55W plus 50%. I have H1 55W with 4.500K from KOITO, and bought some from the U.K. with (claimed) 6.500K, which I have not yet used. But just buy them, there are very cheap offers now. But I would not buy the cheap stuff from China, which might get hotter than originally designed.

Hi Shogun, am getting Non-Hella, but German Angel Eyes headlights from Matrix.com for my 89 525i US version, the stock lights are so bad especially the dims, even after I put IPF 9005s and 9006s. Understand the kit already includes H1 lights. Will the light output be much brighter than my old setup, I heard the brights may not be as good (the brights now using the IPFs are OK). Also, what bulb would you recommend with the new assembly? Am also changing to Depo clear tail-lights, where can I get clear sidemarkers, and do you think the car would still be correct for its period if I put in the M3 sidemirrors with the LED signal lights? Now have Schnitzer bumpers and sideskirts, 17 inch austrian star mags. Thanks!

These bulbs are 80 watt (says on the box), won't that be to hot? They also have a pretty heavy tint on the bulbs.

Right, that are 80W, I also just noted.
I personally would not use anything higher than H1 55W in the low or dip lights. Had my own bad experience with H1 100W. Wires burnt/melted, reflectors had heat bubbles.
Just within a few days, similar to dynamic e.
For the other headlights it might be o.k., as usually you do not use them such a long time and they can cool down.
Reuben: I would first see how the new lights are. If the H1 coming along with the angel eyes headlights, try them first and see. There are plenty of sellers around with H1 55 plus X% more brightness. The spare set H1 I bought from the U.K. from this company

Clear side markers are plenty available on Ebay and I think also from other online sellers like bavauto.com
As for the side mirrors and the LED stuff: it's your car. If you like it, do it.
Some like it original, others have different ideas about the design of their car and mods.
It is important that you like that way what you modify.
