Hey everyone, glad to join these forums!
Anyway, I've got a question on my BMW, I have a 1993 525i Wagon, I would like to replace the In-Dash AM/FM radio, I don't currently own a 6 Disk CD Player. So, my question is, would I need any optional equipment to install a aftermarket In dash CD player?
Thanks!

http://www.soundrepair.com/ repaired my oem dash unit for $120 including shipping and it's like a brand new radio. That and an oem changer for free from the board seems like a pretty reasonable fix, seeing how it would 100% plug n play.
The NAK CD400 is $375 from ebay and would need the wires spliced.

Mine works fine, but I was wondering if anyone else has replaced theirs? If they did, was there any other equipment they had to purchase in order for it to fit?
Thanks.
I'm looking to install this:

how do you bypass the factory amp. I was also thinking of getting a new Alpine 9853 that are powered. Do you have to run new wire or rewire?

You have to rewire around it so the CD changer is the amp itself, or you can completely replace the amp with a new one. If you do it yourself it's about $20 in parts, or you can get it done for you for about $60.

What parts do you need? I don't need a harness right since i'm not connecting to OEM connecter.

i was under the impression that the various speakers were controlled by the crossover that is built into the factory amp.
so if i were to use an aftermarket head unit , would i still go through the amp in some way or is the crossover built into the speakers
hopefully this will help someone

I have a set of component 5.25 from Polk. how do i connect these since the stock amp has the built in crossovers. Do I just connect the speakers to existing wire use amp crossover instead of the crossover that came w/ the speakers???
