Good day,
This afternoon, I adjusted the valves on my '91 535i. All of the exhaust valves were fine, but the intake valves were real tight. Like .002"-.004"
The car runs smoother now than I could have imagined for an m30, but still a little problem.
Several seconds to a minute after a cold start OR hot restart, the car runs real rough, and I get a momentary check engine light (still). The engine will then smooth out and act right until I shut it down. The rough running (nearly shuts off) part lasts for 1 - 2 minutes.
I just checked the fuel pressure. It holds fine at 38 when at idle, and when I goose the throttle it jumps to 46 then back down to 38. Clamp off the return hose at the regulator and the pressure goes way over 80. Regulator seems to work. Pump builds pressure. System maintains pressure after shutdown.
Any ideas about the momentary rough idle/check engine 1222 light? How do I check the O2 sensor?
Thanks for your time (again).
