Hi all!

I have a '92 525i which is originally from Japan.
Anyway, the stock radio/cd changer (Alpine I believe) works (although radio frequency is specific for Japan - only up to 90.0 FM).
I got the car without any owners' manual, much less, a security code for the radio.
My question is, do I assume correctly that the radio needs a security code? I am hoping mine doesn't as it does not have the "Anti Theft" label on the radio face.

Thanks for any insights.

Philip

Most of the japanese version radios of that time do not have any radio code. I have a Sony audio with 10 disk CD player from 1988 and it does not have any radio code.
Car radio theft was unknown at that time in Japan.

And I still never use the anti-theft code for my car, and nobody steels it.

Thanks for the info Shogun. Now I'm less worried about having to change the battery. I really like the stock Alpine system and I was worried I'd have to throw it out.

I had Japanese-made OE BMW radios in a 91 318is and in an 86 325 and they both had a CODE.
