Ticking sound from clutch area

I have isolated the ticking sound to the clutch area. I am pretty sure it is not the valvetrain (almost inadiable from the engine bay. I could hear it at idle when I stick my head under the car. Can the clutch/flywheel be making that sound?

If your throwout bearing is going it could. Does the sound change if you apply pressure on the clutch pedal?

your car also has a dual mass flywheel - they are known for making noise, especially as they wear.
