this is not a major problem but it bugs me quite a bit...

when using the keys to lock and unlock the door, there seems to be no problem. the power locks work perfectly.

the problem comes when im locking it manually (driver's side) when im inside the car. if i lock it, it locks all the doors, however the problem is when i unlock it, only the driver's side door locks.

is this some sort of electronic problem? i really dont think this is mechanical coz i have checked most of the moving parts already

btw, when i unlock using the passenger side lock, it unlocks all the doors

knob does not operate the central unlocking for all the car? If so, you have an issue with the driver's door actuator, specifically, with the micro switch that follows the knob position, as an alternative, you may have a false contact in one of the connectors that take this signal from the lock actuator to the General module.

It is a White/Black wire going from the actuator connector pin 6 (X660 connector), to the pin 13 of connector at the car body (X257 connector at the pillar holding the door hinge), then it turns into a White/Black/Yellow wire going to the General Module connector pin 23 (X255 connector).

I would check with a voltmeter for voltage at pin 23 of connector X255 at GM, it should rise to 12V when pulling up the knob.

hmmm.... anyone with pics of that?

This link is related to the pillar connector:

This links will help with GM connector:

Don't trust connector colors, but shapes.

none yet... checked the relays and everything... they seem to be fine... the fuse is ok... im gonna have it checked by the dealer if i dont find d fault in 5 days...

i have virtually dismantled the locking system already without seeing anything wrong...

if you follow these simple steps.

1.- Unplug the General Module. Use this link to identify X255 connector just below it.

2.- Identify pin 23 at X255 connector. Use this picture to identify it.

3.- Check voltage to ground at that pin 23 when somebody else pull up the driver's door knob. Should rise up, if not, either you have a dirty/wore switch contact at the door actuator, or some wiring issue from actuator to GM.

found the problem... it is not the electricals... while i was tinkering with the actuator, i noticed that the pull on it is not enough to trigger the system... i tried pulling it with my hands and it unlocked the whole car... (there is not enough pull when i pull the knob but when i use the key to unlock it, it is enough... cant find the connecting elements...)

can anyone post a detailed diagram of it since i dont want to detatch the whole door while fixing it?

Pulling the knob by hand is one thing, using the key is another.

Per your previous posts, it was clear to me that using your key was working fine, the problem was that pulling the knob up, in the driver's door, was not triggering the system.

If you mean that pulling extra hard in the knob by hand (only) will do it, the problem should be addressed to the actuator.

sorry abt that, let me clarify it. when i pull the knob, it doesnt pull the actuator that much to trigger the system... when i manually pull the connection between the lock and the actuator, it unlocks the whole system

the question is i could not find which parts are missing or broken... can you pls post a pic of the locking system diagram? and possibly how to fix it...

tnx!

Try to adjust the actuator location ralated to the lock hardware.

i tried adjusting it... all sorts of possible positions but it still falls short a bit of pulling the actuator enough to unlock the system...

needing more travel of the link to fully pull it. Some reconstruction or supplementing may solve it.

Also there may be worn issues inside the actuator related to micro switch operation.

Pull the actuator out and check micro switch operation on pins 3, 5, and 6.

http://www.bimmer.info/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=841

Unlocking will close contact from 6 to 5, locking will close contact from 3 to 5. Micro switch contact should make fairly easy when reaching the travel end, no extra pulling or keeping pulled to keep the contact closed. If extra effort is needed to keep it closed, either the contact is dirty/wore or the lever actuator on the micro switch is worn.

If you are good with your hands, open the actuator (carefully cutting open the enclosure with a Dremel cutting disk), remember you will have to glue it back in place. This Lowell post should help you to find out what are you facing.

Look after the micro switch and find out what is preventing it from operating early enough.

Good luck

ill try that later...
hopefully that will cure the problem...

thanks!
