View Full Version : Removing hood liner?

I have a leak on my washer hose and I need to tank the hood liner out. I can not get the plastic connecters lose. What is the secret?

...the piece you see pushes into the hole in the piece you dont see. Two small screwdrivers around the edge of the clip will separate the 2 sections. You will break some but they are cheap to replace from the Dealer.

was the hose just lying there? I cut a little bit off and good as new

actually, I think there are two kinds. Mine are like yours - the two piece (plastic "rivet" and holder). I use a small flathead screwdriver to pull the rivet, then a set of needlenose pliers to pull the holder from the hood.

I think it was Shogun who mentioned there being two different kinds?!

when you get in there, put a clamp on the hose where it meets the jet(s). Those suckers pop off all the time and it's a pain to set them straight cause you've got to pull the insulation back...again...

No the leak is in the nozzel housing. The nozzl has two wire connected to it, howere the parts I found on line do not show the wires. I am trying some glue right now, if that does not work I will go to the stealer tommorrow.

If the jets need to be replaced, call BMA. I think they're about $20/piece from them. Forget the dealer.

There are two kinds of heated jets: old style and new. My car had old style jets, which have one inlet. The new ones have two. I thought this was going to be a problem, until I ran water through them (with a straw) and determined that it seems only one inlet actually works. Either way: if you get new jets, be sure to determine which inlet is the correct one :)

I once showed that. But it is from E32, so not sure if the same for E34. The page disappeared (used E32 parts dealer tech help page in Germany) but I found a way to show the pics (hopefully) once more from an E32 hood. The old (before facelift) E32 had clips, thereafter one had to turn the 'screws'

Yea... my '94 (9/93 build) has screws and they are easy to remove/replace.
