Check Control Message

Can anyone help? I got into my 92' 525 turned the ignition and the engine didn't move. The check control prompt as well as the owner's manual prompt display on the sceen. The radio also did not come on. Can anyone give me an idea as to what is happening. I would really appreciate it.

...it's on the strut tower right next to the battery. Remove it completely to see if it's broken, refit or replace.
