Setting E34 Factory Alarm?

Ok, quick question. I have always had a problem setting the factory alarm on my 95 525i. When I hit the ARM button on my remote it beeps twice then about 5 secons later (as im walking away) the alarm starts going off... Whats the deal? I know this is probably just some simple thing im not doing....

If it beeps twice...that means the alarm has been disarmed. Something aint' right!
