A very light tap today in a parking lot. Nothing visible that won't buff out. No visible movement on the bumper. Do I really need to pull the bumper to check the bumper shocks? It was maybe at most 5mph. It was a Galant that hit me.

Opinions?

Thanks.

Normally these shocks are able to take speeds up to 7-8 miles per hour and the platic bumper cover is also very absorvative, so there should be no damage. To be sure pull it of, it' s just five minutes, and check if thre are any visible cracks in the paint under the bumper around the shock mountings and at the corners . It often happens that the bumper gets pushed up to hitting the body and damaging the paint which is not visible due to the bumper being in place, but comes to show as rust bubbles a few months later.

I had a grinding with Chevy Impala going 80mph+ on the highway. The driver cut in front of me on the exit, and hit my front end. The only damage I received was a slightly bent fender some scratches on the bumper + cracked side marker light (easy fix). It's amazing how hard E34s are. They should be called T-34:) Alan You should be fine, speed isn't the only factor for bumper shocks, there has to be enough force to do any damage. In this case I don't think you have to check them.
