can anyone help a newbie please.car wouldnt start while out starter motor not even trying to turn over engine.got towed home and had a new starter motor fitted got started but 4 hours later when i tried the car nothing again so charged up battery .next day refitted battery and car startedcstraight away,but 5hours later tried it again and same problem not evening try to turn over.checked immobiliser that was ok, battery charged ok so what else could it be

Did the battery charge from the alternator or did you charge it with a charger?

Sounds like you've either got a bad alternator which is not fully charging the battery.

Or, if this power drain only happens after the car is sitting for awhile, you've got something left on or you have an electrical short somewhere.

I'd check the voltage regulator, make sure the battery's actually charging. If that's okay, have a load test done on the battery at the local AutoZone.
