Diff gearing for 95 Euro Touring.

I am trying to find out the gearing ratio for my 95 Euro model 525 Touring. Build date is October 94 and it is a manual.

I got a feeling its 3.85 ?. Or was it 4.10 ?. On fifth gear, it pulls 2500 rpm at 100 Kph (62 MPH). Seems like a dog-leg shift to me as gear changes happens pretty quick. Thinking of getting longer gearing as engine revs too quickly and is consuming lots of gas. :p

Don't know about a Euro model, but my US 1995 525iT automatic has 4.10s.

I would not be surprised if it is 4.10 , cos for Euro manual, the gear ratios are so close together, making me suspect that its dog-leg. Fifth is not an overdrive gear, so rpms go pretty high at high speed cruise. Engine is powerful/torquey enough to push.
So, I think maybe a 3.73 ratio would be ideal for my purposes. LSD would be great as mine if open diff.

IS yours an Open Diif or LSD ?.

there will be a tag on the diff with the ratio stamped on it.

The one in the car is currently an open diff. I bought a used 4.10 LSD that I plan install soon :D Really looking forward to that, as the car is currently on my lift for suspension maintenance (struts, control arms, all the brake pads, power window motor, etc.). As was mentioned, there is a rectangular metal tag attached by one of the diff cover bolts that state the diff ratio.

I have done the usual repairs/replacement to my Touring. Drives very well and had a killer Alpine sound system. Now I am wondering if a 4.10 LSD from a 89 M20motor version will fit my 95 ?. Any ideas ?.
