Hi, does anybody have any information on the removal and reconditioning of the Starter motor on a M20 as it has started to fail and make a squeaking noise. Thanks

Hi! It comes off easy enough, you'll see the (3 I think) bolts that hold it to the gearbox if you jack the front of the car up. Remove the electricals first, draw a picture of where the wires went if you need to - then unbolt the motor. I bought a recon solenoid for mine 18 months ago and it was about £12 or so. I am sure you will have a local auto electrics place that could rebuild your motor for you. If not I can give you the number of the shop I went to. You could stick it in the post and they would sort it I'm sure!
Hope that helps.
