Its stories like this that should scare all of us the next time we even think of driving after a few. This is exactly what happened to my aunt & uncle just after retiring and about to head off to Europe for a grand tour they had been planning for years. Its so unfair.

Let them laugh, it just shows their ignorance. I still don't think DUI crimes or charges are stiff enough. It is an unbelievable proposition to drive while impaired. I did it when I was younger and I kick myself time and time again at how stupid I was. It literally gives me goosebumps thinking I made it home some of those nights. I live in Chicago now so it's cab city--the best $10 you'll ever spend.

I agree that the penalties for this stuff are not tough enough. I say once your caught over the limit, goodbye license and all access to private transport. You're either a rear-seat pass or riding the bus!

My uncle 43 yrs old was killed 2 months ago by a woman who was drunk, stoned, and on coke less than 1 mile from his home... woman had 8yr old daughter in back seat... now I hate these people even more...

UPDATE:

The guy was going 70 mph when he hit the Honda. According to the "black box" he didn't even touch the brake pedal. The local prosecutor has charges him with 3 counts of 2nd degree Murder.
