i just went on this bimw4life site and it sayes " Has a timing belt which needs to be replaced every 30-50K miles along with the waterpump." i mean i've changed it when i got the car but i don't want to wast another $500 on it that soon

But that is a more conservative schedule.

It is always good to replace both water pump and timing belt/tensioner whenever doing the other...since you are in there and either one is a killer should it fail.

I’d learn to do it yourself and save $400 bucks.

Yes, a snapped timing belt on an M20 inevitably results in bent valves, which results in a head job, which results in a thin wallet.

Ergo it's smart to do timing belts before they're due to be done ;)

50k miles or 5 years is the general rule of thumb, it's a good idea to do the water pump too because it's only about 5 extra minutes work while your in there, otherwise it's a good sized pain to change the pump by itself
