This is what happens when an unlicenced driver loses control, crosses the centreline and collects your pride and joy at speed. His Corolla hit me side on and now looks like a letter 'C', his two passengers on that side are cabbages.

In loving memory of a faithful servant. So long, E34.

oh man i'm sorry. I hate hearing about all these cars being wrecked. My pristeine 88 325is was wrecked last november becuase a guy in a new A8 made a left turn in front of me...talk about sucking.

At least the e30 hit his car hard enough that they totaled the Audi too ;-)

The amazing thing was I walked away with a sore neck (hit the top of the headrest) and some seatbelt bruising. The occupants of the other car are not too good. Sold my MX5/Miata the day after..

On the positive, I'd just dropped 8k on the car upgrading the head and suspension. My insurance company sold me the wreck for $1000 and I'm transferring everything to my new E34 very soon. (Engine, 5-speed, ECU, M-Tech suspension and anything else I can find).

On the very positive, I also bought an E39 AC Schnitzer S5 because I'm happy to be alive. This thing is a monster compared to the 535, but strangely doesn't handle nearly as well?

Damn, I'd just gone out to get Pizzas too. Life was good, sunroof tilted, warm night, wind in my hair, nice accelleration out of the corner, lights towards me out of control, bang.

No airbags in this model, so no nasty explosions. Hope the others pull through too, they are far too young... They both had bad head injuries - they were sitting on the side that was t-boned. Not to mention shattered pelvis, legs. Horrible.

Looks nasty Tim! Makes you appreciate how well zee Germans designed and built our cars when you can get away unhurt like that.

Your in NZ by the look of the plates? Are you going to be selling off some of the parts?

We can't sue in New Zealand, we have a thing called the Accident Compensation Commission (ACC) instead that pays all our medical bills/ loss of income etc. The police will kick his arse, and my insurance company will hound him. Add that to the fact he's seriously injured a couple of his mates, that is enough for me.

Yup, in NZ. Most of my parts are going into my new E34. I picked up a really nice Diamond Swartz 525i automatic that will get all the goodies from the 535 (rebuilt motor, 5 speed, M-Tech suspension etc).

Can't wait!

Auckland, out near Kumeu. Lived in Wellington for a few years - in fact that's where I bought the (now trashed) white 535.

The panzer sure helped you being moreless unhurt.Makes you more careful in your decisions what car your buying and lets you sort out much more.

Apropos air bags.I experienced an air bag inflation at a collision with a washing machine on a major road going down 70+MPH.
I had the seatbelt on and when the bag blew it did not even touch me,but the gas almost knocked me out. What I hated most it blew out the moonroof
to a point that I need a new one now, if I want it to work again. I decided I'll be without one and secured it permanently to the roof.Got a new air bag from E-bay but it will stay disconnected.
