I only know of Recaro and Sparco (which I'm guessing are Italian) ... are there any German racing seat and steering wheel manufacturers? How do they fare against the 2 mentioned? Why aren't they as popular?

Actually I think Recaro is German. I remember a Recaro factory in Kaiserslautern when I was there in the eighties. Also Scheel was another excellent German seat maker and I thought a lot nicer than Recaro. Koenig also made/makes seats and they were German. There are lots of German steering wheel makers too like AC Schnitzer although they actually might be made by Momo and relabled, not sure.

I'm pretty sure RAID/RDI is in germany. They make some nice airbag steering wheels :D Not sure about the popularity thing. Sometimes, places are 100x as popular in Europe as they are in the states due to accessibility.

Thanks Shaun... I was only wondering... cuz I've never heard of RDI or RAID for aftermarket "racing" type steering wheels. Unlike Momo and Sparco which are pretty much everywhere. I was just curious.
Thanks again to gto for pointing out that Recaro is German.
