I would recommend anything but bilsteins, boges are great as a stock replacement ant their warranty isnt BS like Bilies.

Bump No trouble with harsh ride/bumpstop variances, internal mods to suit springs, etc. Billies work out sometimes but the Boges are factory engineered from stock to M suspensions so have all the options you need... I've had Bilstein HDs on standard springs and the ride was awful- was sold to me as factory but a little harder. Those things made driving my car a horrid experience unless on a nice new road... :) GP

gas hydraulic shocks are the way to go,
i have a set of boge turbo's in my e21, and
they are very impressive, they dont bottom out
hard like non gas do

The Boge Automatics are gas shocks. Think they come in different versions, still called automatics (at least if my experiences of ordering the Boge equivalent of M-tech are anything to go by). And Boge and Sachs are both ZF, ultimately... I'm beginning to think that ZF are the Microsoft of the car parts world here in europe...
