540 cat's (again)

What the highest mileage anyone's heard on getting before the original OEM cat's have failed on a 540?

Has anyone ever been able to find these used, or is that illegal in all 50 states? (I know it is here is California, where eveything is illegal).

I got 146,000 out of mine before I replaced both of them with the magna-flow equivalents. Why buy used if these are only around $60 each?

I've heard of other's using those as well. Did you find it lowered the ground clearance on your car? (Is your car lowered?) Did you have to weld in a tap for the oxygen sensor? Did you notice any change in the exhaust sound?

This fall I've been planning on doing my exhaust system completely and considering the feedback would use the magna flows too.

My question is, magnaflow 94005 for the cats, and not sure what muffler/exhaust yet, but I dont want a cat back exhaust. So what can be used as an inexpensive mid muffler / center silencer to complete the system?
