A friend is looking at buying a 92 E34 (M50) that has a cracked head. He's almost sold on buying this vehicle..how much can he get a new/refurbed head for?

I believe rebuilt ones go for ~600 on ebay and you can get a used one(not rebuilt) for about 300.

ie one you can get without spending half your life making phone calls and waiting on ebay for around 700 or so...try car-part.com....might be able to get one with a warranty, so youy don't get screwed when you take it to the machine shop and tell you that you have micro cracks and whatnot... problem with that 700 figure is that it is around the price of a used m50 motor most places. might be able to get one from another part of the countryu for 4-500, but they usually have no warranty.

with 0 bids for 3xx....the only problem with this is that you said your friend wants to buy a 92, ie this 93 one has vanos and probably isn't interchangeable easily.
