Hi Folks,
I recently got 3 bulbs for my OBC , ordering the part number as suggested from a diagram online ( realoem or something )
Turns out these are 6.5v bulbs :(
The screen feels pretty hot to touch...
What I've done is tape over the little light sensor, hoping to trick it to thinking its night time where it reduces brightness a little. Im hoping this reduction might be enough to run properly, does anybody know what voltage it reduces it to?
Thanks
Rory.

I cannot imagine that they are 6.5volt. Have a look here, there are 2 different types

The ones I got are the green ones, im sure they say 6.5V on them.
This is why they burn out faster grrrr.... I need the black ones.

Get them out of there. They could melt your OBC. I believe the ETK is wrong here.

Eek I will take it out and order the other bulbs. These ones cost me nearly £10 as it is GRRRR
Dont want my obc going up in flames.

The correct ones are indeed 12V and have the black plastic base. The ETK is wrong (probably a carryover from an older e28 application). The correct part number is 62 11 1 368 299. They're 65 cents each at my local dealer. Send me an e-mail and I'll be happy to put 3 of them in the mail to the UK for you.

the 6.5v bulbs won't burn out the OBC, the OBC will burn them out as it's giving 12v to the bulb! the glass will go chrome from being over driven and they'll just stop working... takes 1-2 weeks with regular driving.. i went through three 6.5v bulbs like this, no damage to the OBC
