outer door handle gasket replacement info

I bought 10 sets of the outer door handle gaskets from the source in Malaysia (dealer only sells the handle complete with the gasket) for some members of our E32 Club in Japan. Here are the info pics from my friend Mitsu, job done on his 750iL Highline.
Remove the plug in the door, use flashlight to find the slider inside the door, push the slider forward towards front of the car, remove door handle from outside, replace and do same in reverse.
It makes it easier to fit the gaskets snug when you let them warm up a bit in the sunshine or water, so that they are more flexible to install.

Is there an update on the door handle removal page? I click on the link but got a bunch of gibberish. I just reglued my window in the track and notice that the locking actuator was gangling down. Looks like the actuator mound broke. it also looks like pot metal so I will need to find another one. Need to find out what it is called first.

got anything a little more detailed? The lever dosent exactly "push away from you" it moves from the left to right...

When i tried moving this lever(both right and left) the handle never exactly "popped out" actually it didn't budge one bit.

Anyone else with first hand experience have any more details on this?

the "lever" slides... grab a flashlight and look for it after you remove the tiny oval access panel on the side of your door

i believe you push it (away from you) to release the door handle cover --

and use a hook to pull it to lock the door handle cover back into place.

i did mine a few months back.. it really is simple.

alright i figured it out, i was using too small of a screwdriver. Once i got a larger one, it did push in and release the door handle trim.


Also, for those that end up doing this in the future, a paint can lid opener(free from home depot) works great as a hook mechanism to pull the lever back to the locking position.
