Looking at a couple of spring ideas. What would you chose between these too

mtech proabably cheaper and you don't want too much drop. I would choose those.

As Kriss said the M-Tech will probably be a bit cheaper especially if you can source the parts s/h and it will just drop it slightly and tighten things up just nicely without being too uncomfortable. Make sure to try and get the sway bars as well. Anything more and the ride will noticeably suffer. It just depends on the compromise your prepared to accept.

I was told that the M5 springs will actually raise the front of a non-M e34, because the S engine weighs more than the M30.

But you wouldn't put springs designed to hold the weigh of an M3 on a heaiver M5.
So in this case M-Tech should = M5.

The M-tech springs were an option on "Sport" models. They're applicapable to the whole range of E34's, except 530 and 540 according to the ETK.
M-tech Front Spring: 31 33 2 226 669
M-tech Rear Spring: 33 53 2 226 672 (seems odd, listed under REAR MTECHNIC SPRT SPRING STRUT. Also one listed under regular suspension with "sporty" option -

M-tech and M5 springs are two different things. The m-tech springs come on the 535 & 525 sport models which are more common in Europe.
