Just replaced my rear shocks - and mounts - this weekend with the Sachs kit shocks. I did not use or replace the thin paper gaskets (torn) that sit on top of the mounts between the mounts and the car body. Is there a downside to not having replaced them?
Thanks.

The only purpose is to prevent squeaks. I have used the shock mount box as a template in the past, but the $1 for the paper gasket is worth it to me. I would run with it and if it becomes a problem then remove the shocks and throw on the gasket.
Good Luck,
Rory

Thanks Rory - makes sense.
presumably if its squeeks its because metal is rubbing on metal and as its in contact with the road dirt id guess it will cause corrosion
