Steering Trouble

I have very loose sterring and very poor self centering on my E34 M20.

The steering links and rods have been changed and have been checked to be tight.

I have just completed changing the steering box with a new unit. Steering is much improved especially on higher speed.

However, self centering is still poor on low speed. Now, there is a certain angle where the self centering does not work at all. That's about 3/4 full turn. Left or right.

I can't think of any obvious problems. Please help.

You need an ALIGHMENT very badly. Have it done and it will cure your problem. I had zero self centering before with real bad toe and mis-cambered. After alignment, it was perfect!. Too me 2 weeks to figure that out though.
