Ouch!

Get some estimates, should be able to scuff it up, sand and respray.

The only option you have is to repaint the door.

Ok. Thanks. Does anyone know if it will just continue to peel? I'm undecided as if I'm going to attempt and keep the car nice and perfect or not. My goal is to just have a solid nice car that will run for a while. So, it may not be worth fiddling with at the moment.

I would get some estimates and listen to the way they would repair this and make a decision based on that. might only cost you a hundred bux mattering on technique.

That's a good idea. Thanks.

The clearcoat will continue to flake off as time progresses or until it progresses to a point to were it hits clearcoat that was applied properly.

The old peeling clearcoat must be sanded down and removed in order for any new finish to stay. Otherwise the new finish would just peel away too.

It's one of those things about owning an older car that was made before the introduction of the modern day clearcoats. The clearcoats of today are 100 times better than the clears they used on our E34's.
