My dad is taking the car in for an emissions test tomorrow as it was bought out of state. I thought that a "shogun reset" might be good to do at this time. Is there any sort of radio code that i will need after disconnecting the battery?

need it any time the power is disconnected to the radio.

Check the papers that came with the car...you may luck out and find it there.

No radio code. The radio is not stock however, it is am "aiwa" brand tape deck.

I think radios that need codes have a red blinking light to warn theives not to bother to steal them.

Oh. This radio has a removable faceplate, underneath it says "security" and there is a red blinking light. I guess ill have to call the previous owner.

Maybe i should just get a stock bmw tape deck, i was considering it before just because it does the same thing and will preserve the stock appearance. Now i have another reason to go back to stock. Does anyone know what they cost, where to find, etc.?
