Finally decided to paint the wheels. You should see my neighbors reaction when he saw the car...lol I took them off at 6 AM. No one even noticed me doing it, and it supposed to be a safe neighborhood monitored by Security company…. BTW for anyone who wants to strip the wheels, save yourself time and have them stripped by a plating company or rim painting place. Otherwise be prepared to grind, grind and grind, BMW primer is a bitch… Had to use still wool on a air grinder. Lucky for my old boss allowed me to use his metal shop to do it so I got all the tools.

well, i was going to comment on how nice it was they used jackstands instead of cinder blocks...but you had better keep an eye on it, someone might be looking for a rotor to pawn off.

DTM Front lip. You can get it at Bavarian Autosport www.BavAuto.com. I don't know the price right now but they go around $120. Still have to paint it, it's my next project...

Excellent work. Had me going there a minute, until i saw the jack stand under the car. Real thieves only use cinder blocks (or nothing at all) :p

Well I got cinder blocks in front; I put jack stands in the back only because there is no space to support it with blocks. I really don't trust jack stands...blocks seem to be more stable, and they don't "cut" into the frame. Unfortunately I don't take any pictures since camera died after the last one, and I don't want my bros Nikon to get messed up from all the dust. About the rotors being stolen then I just report to insurance that someone stole my rims and rotors. Two birds killed with one stone :)

This is why I hate to work on a car with more than one wheel not touching the ground. It always freaks me out...

Had close call when one crumbled without notice...So now I only use jack stands

Did a project in Bangladesh (the little densely populated country SE corner of India) and they were using clay bricks as stands. the bricks were as brittle as chalk and would often crack when pressure applied. they had no safety issues though, the managers philosophy was 'there is plenty of them, no one will miss a few, they are replacable'. I couldn't watch half of the things that they were doing.

Been there done it...

Even safter then jack stands is a couple 1 foot chucks of 12x6... stack two (or more) on top of each other under the frame.. I have have all four sides up... and I tell you want... she isn't going anywhere... Only thing better is a lift. (should have one winter after next.. and anyone is welcome to come use it)

Yeah, when I rebuilt the garage I am going to get a hyrolic lift... for about 3 grand I can get one "good nuff" to lift the car saftly.

yeah lifting car safely,it is a big issue with me. I really hate using the stock jack, car lift is a dream that will come true as soon as I move into my own house (in next 10 years).:)Anyways I always but a peace of 2x4 between the block and car so the weight dosen't put all the pressure on the block. I hope taht the car will last on them till Monday.

Ok latest update, got them finally done. I took some other "inprocess" pictures with my camera phone. Will post them later on. So what do you gus think? I still have to let the paint harden, right now they sitting in my basement. I'll have to wait with putting them on till Monday.
