on my 535i was leaking oil from its oil pan, research thru the net and found an article on koalamotorsports that m30's are prone to have the bolts that hold up the bracket of the crank sensor which is bolted on to the timing change cover have oil seep thru it and causing a misdiagnosis of either the oilpan or head gasket causing the leak, and basically the culprit is cause by these two bolts that hold up this sensor and by sealing it with silicone sealant would fix the problem. Well took the belly pan off and found crankshaft bracket bolts dry and and proceded to inspect everything else underneath only to to find that bolts to the oil pan were loose in front of the car which had cause the oil leak. Has anyone experienced this dilemma? Oil has stop leaking for now. Question experts out there, How did my oil pan bolts unloosen when no one but myself does preventive maintenace on the car ? Ang will I see oil leaking again in a month because the gasket has gotten soak with oil already?.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

thanks

it's common for the pan bolts to loosen on m30s, sometimes it will blow a piece of the pan gasket out with the loose bolts, check em every few oil changes

i see just a little oil starting to develop from the oil pan gasket and was wondering if re-tightening would be a bad idea
thanks

But why does this happen when they say this motor is bulletproof ?

bullet proof don't mean it's got no problems at all, just real tough
