Right now, my car passes the Ontario e-test by a gigantic margin. I don't see how a chip could put me into the illegal zone, but I'm askin' anyway, just to be sure.

You should be fine. In my previous post today, I stated that I removed my chip for the smog test. I only did this to compare results. I had previously passed my test with the eat chip in, I was just curious. I also wanted to see if I could tell a difference after driving a couple years with the EAT chip in. I definitely could feel a difference. Now just waiting for gas to drop in price.

The only one I know that failed with an EAT on an E34, is here in Cali, a 540ia.
I asked Mark about it, and he didn't know why it didn't pass.
I would take mine out before I smog it to be sure, only because I have the same car and chip as the one that didn't pass and I am in Cali.
But you should be fine.
