My 89 520i has starting problems. When starting it, it runs at 600 rpm, so in the winter that's a problem (it's an automatic), because after starting, it won't continue to run. The funny thing is, when i put it in gear and drive away with my foot on the gaspeddle, it will continue to run smoothly. I tried everything, so i think that there is a problem with my computermemory. Where can i find that thing and can i switch it off ??????

I would suspect idle control valve before DME

Computer is always the last thing if ever to replace... You got to remember, computer can only do so much as it get wrong informations from the sensors or trying to compensate for bad parts.

id be checking the basics, air leaks, dirty throttle body, dirty idle control valve, dead or out of adjustment throttle position switch, if the tps is not clicking with the throttle closed the computer will not turn on the idle circuit on
