I purchased my '94 530i 5-speed roughly one year ago with 90K miles. I've driven it roughly 25K miles since then, mainly commuting miles and all that comes with it (high speed, some 5-4 acceleration, etc). I've noticed a vibration that is engine RPM related, as it is present when the vehicle is stationary. The vibration comes on right at 1600 rpm (harmonic), and passes before 2000 RPM.
If the vibration is present when the clutch is disengaged, does the vibration point to a warped/off-balance flywheel? Could it be that the clutch is still spinning despite the fact that it is disengaged?
Ideas?
Also, how much should a clutch/flywheel resurfacing cost? I'm not opposed to the replacement, as vibrations lead to other failures. The car probably has another 85K miles in it (or more, if the Nikasil gods are good to me).
As always, any input would be appreciated.
