A lot of what I read, I assume is selectively reported to advance the agenda of the reporter, but not this.

My wife worked at a red cross shelter near our home last night. There were multiple families housed in there. The things that suprised me is how little they know about what happened. The red cross limits their access to news feeling that it would be too traumatic to them, there were no TV's available for the people to even see how much damage there was. They also warehouse shoes, clothes and food and don't give it to the victims until they leave the shelter. Their explanation was that it creates feelings of inequality between those housed and deters theft if the new items aren't there next to their cots.
