I met a rep who claimed I could easily make a huge improvement to the amount of light given off by my headlights just by swapping in one of these bulbs.

Anyone try these?

The BL series is supposed to give 30 percent more light for the same power,and they have a blue range too.I think Quentin from Aussie runs Narva lamps in his car and says hey are good.Narva are a big player in the business

If you can get your hands on the June and August issues of the Roundel, there was a great series on lighting upgrades. The articles were largely E36-based, but a lot of similar issues apply to the E34 with regard to bulb options, etc.

One bulb upgrade the author found effective for US-spec lights was the installation of 9011/9012 (HIR) bulbs. I've tried them myself and got noticeably more light without the risk of burning out harness or melting lamp housings or connectors. The bulbs are OE on the Dodge Viper and (according to the author) the Z8. They aren't quite drop-in for 9006-type housing but easily adaptable.

Checking the BMWCCA.ORG web site, i see the articles are accessible online through the Roundel archives. Definitely worth reading.

What's the story with HID and adapting them to the E34?
