Hi.
Got a -93 520IA Touring this summer and now i would like to check the any fault code in the engine control unit.
How??
Suspect the lamdba sond as it's smooking by cold engine and the exhaust pipe are black inside.
The bimmer has no Check Control.

I'm not sure if your car has this, but search stomp test.

Where are you located? I think I read here that only US cars have the stomp test, but I could be wrong.

Hi.
On the east shore of the "pond", - north scandinavia.
The bimmer toured the german roads until this summer.
I.e. it's a german version of the 520, imported this summer by me to sweden.
Had very litle on the tacho, but as it seems needs a lot of usefull options that I try to install, find out.

Your car shouldn't have smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe even with lambda sensor removed. Smoke at startup may indicate a leaking valve (which results in oil buildup after sitting some time turned off) or a bad headgasket.
