View Full Version : External Temp Sensor
When the external temp sensor fails, does the OBC default to a "set" reading? When I got in the car this morning, it was a "brisk" -535F - WAY too cold for Austin :D
Seriously, other than a failed sensor, what could be going here?
Cheers!

likely the connector for the sensor which is just inside the front sheet metal on the inside of the engine compartment is corroded. Trace the sensor to the connector, disonnect the two halves and give it a thorough cleaning, spray with contact cleaner, let it dry and reconnect. Good chance it will restore accurate temp reading function to your OBC. Resistance goes to infinity with a corroded connector which causes default of minimum temp.

George is right - thats all it took to do mine. After you reconnect the sensor it will take some time (hours) for the sensor to read correctly. Mine took about a day to read correctly.
