Has anyone tried the BMW Diagnose Interface SRS & Service Reset CD program and leads. See E bay item number 4563188970. I know it requires a PC with 2 serial ports which is somewhat uncommon but I recently aquired a free Pentium II computer with 2 serial ports. Because of the PC's antiquated CPU, video card, etc it really isn't good for much but could be very useful if this program is any good. I need to reset the SRS as I screwed up when I had the instrument panel out and set off the SRS light.

Search for BMW diagnostics tools- there are separate break out (MCU) boxes for CarSoft versions 3, 6 and PA Soft software.
or can even buy the diagnostic connector on its own form them if you like that eBay one... (Plugging in the pins one by one is messy and might be dangerous). I don't like the idea of having to use 2 serial ports, old software or an older PC.
I haven't tried any yet though.

I searched SRS reset, BMW-support, none of the results looked appropriate based on titles. I didn't open are read each and everyone just the ones that looked at least somewhat promising.

I guess it was a bit earlier than march/april. Past four months have flown by for me, so time has compressed.

There may be others, but I remembered Derek's thread. Maybe I'm just spoiled, but I'm leery of carsoft.
Craig, you should have no problem fabbing your own interface kit. Might not be worth your time, but...

Are you talking about the serial to diagnostic port connectors? If so I imagine I could fabricate something as long as I had a wiring diagram or a model to work from.
I am looking at other alternatives. The Peake tool doesn't work on 89 model year. There are several others available so I'll keep investigating for now.
Thanks,
