CEL light on, DME 1444 coninuous loop?

Ok, I fixed the DME 1221 error I had and am now getting a endless loop of 1444 codes via the stomp method. Normally not a problem except my check engine light is illuminated and won't go out while driving. I've tried holding the accelerator pedal to the floor for ten seconds but the light won't go out. Any ideas? Car is a 94 540iA.

I drove it yesterday when it was windy and got a message on the OBC display indicating the outside temperature was -535 deg F. Promptly drove it back home, disconnected the battery, pulled the DME, put the original reprogrammed BMW chip back in and now the Check engine light is off but the cold idle sucks. No DME codes with the BMW chip, but the German chip definitely had some better startup fuel maps.
