A/C Switches Off? '95 525i

Just recently I've noticed that everytime I restart my car - the A/C (and recirc ) is off even though it was left on when I stopped the car. The A/C works fine when I hit the buttons again but was wondering why it is now resetting after the car is shut off? Before this - A/C was always on after starting if I left it on when I shut down. This change is a minor annoyance but wonder if it's a sign of something more serious?
