I'm trying to install some custom brake ducts, and I want some input..

The ducting is 4" in diameter, it looks as if it's too big to fit near the calipers and the tyres are too large, they will hit the ducting when the tyre is turning inward.

I'm thinking that the ducts will only be placed in front of the wheel arch, direct cool air this way. Any help guys? Do I do any cutting to the underneath?

Well Kris - I'm trying to follow but not being very successful. In general, you have two options for cooling.

Number one is to direct air over the top of the caliper. This is how the 540 pickups work.

Number two is to force air up the rotor hat and thru the rotor vanes. This tends to be a more complex solution as you need to modify the rotor shroud to connect the ducting and force air up the hat. More of a full blown racing solution; check the M3 racing sites etc for examples.

Anyways...you should be able to direct air of the caliper with your setup, the trick will be finding a way to mount the output of the hose such that it points to the caliper. Consider that any mounting will need to be pretty "firm" so the hose doesn't get redirected at 100+MPH. :D

Have fun!

sorry if I was unclear, if the duct is placed in the wheel arch, the duct will hit the tyre at full lock. i'll get back to it cheers :) Would I have to cut the metal just before the wheel arch to get the duct through?
