Hi, I have read through the older posts and cant find any thing that matches the problem that I have, the only thing that i found was this http://members.roadfly.com/louielouie/dme_fix.html But dont know if this is applicable for my E34? But it seams to describe the problem perfectly.
The Problem is that it will suddenly die and all the dash lights go out, its like the key is being switched off! as the battery light comes on then sometimes instantly or other times 10-20 seconds it picks up and the dash 'restarts' like when the key is inserted and turned! Got me confused. I have had the car now for a month and this is the first time that there has been a problem.
Please help.
My E34 is a UK 530 M30 iSE Manual Model year of 1989.
is there such a thing as a 530 m30? i thought the 530 was a m60 v8. did they call the m30 a 530 instead of 535 in the uk?

I'll check that tonight.
OK, she is still doing it..... Next stop Ebay, 530i SE for spares anyone!!
All Looks Good, Lots of Wires and Lots of Fuses!!! Replaced All the Stock fuses with new as well, lots of them. Replaces all the Outer Lamp Bulbs and Made Two extra engine Earth Straps to the Car body as well. Then started the car up and not even while driving, just idleing on the drive, it died! Itslike the Ignition was switched off, the dash pod shut down and the Immobiliser kicked in!, the rest of the dashboard was still working though?? Fan, OBC, Clock, ETC. Strange?
Have come to the conclusion its the dash pod? or Check Control System? is this possible? It does have check control and its is showing, now I have put bulbs in it shows 'Owners Manual' and '+' at the end.
Now in the UK we are faced with BMW charging £100 (GBP) Per Hour Labour rates! they want the car for a Day!!! This is not practical on a £100 (GBP) car so, I'm open to suggestions? Please, love it to bits but this is doing my head, I have to drive my Citroen 2CV to work at the moment as I cant trust the 'German Engineering'.
Thanks for all your suggestions so far. and the www.bmwe34.net is most excellent! I adjusted the steering box last night as I cant drive it anywhere and I needed to get out of the house, outlaws where round!

Ask the guys here for help. It is a 7 forum, but I know some of these chaps know the E34 very well and also can repair them or can advise you where to find a cheaper repair shop
http://www.bmw7resource.co.uk/forum/index.php
Tell them that shogun sent you there. They know me very well.
