Howzit all,

Could anyone tell me what gains, if any I would get if I put a chip in my car?
Would it be safe to di it as well, or not?

And could I fit the chip myself or would it need to go to a dealer. Lastly are the chips expensive?

Thanks all! :)

I’ll preempt Gayle by saying “use the search function” in the top right of the page. Type in “chip”, “EAT” or anything else that comes to mind and prepare to be inundated with useful (and useless) info on the subject. Also check out Mark D’sylvas site (EAT chips) at http://www.dsylva-tech.ca

What the heck, may as well check out http://www.bmwe34.net if you haven't already,

In short, I don't think you'll find too much opposition to 'chipping' on this site.

Good Luck,

Dave M

Just buy an EAT chip. You will need to use the 91 fuel. Heck, just do a search.

you wont realize an incredible difference with the 2.5 engine but people say it makes them much more driveable around town. Higher octane fuel is about the onlt downside.

Doesn't the 525 already require 91 octane? Could have sworn I saw that in my owner's manual.

I have an EAT on the way now, and I can't really see any downside from what I've read on the forum. Looking forward to receiving it.
