Hey guys, I know I have the expensive Sword on my 1990 BMW 535i.
I have been dealing with only having AC and heat on HIGH for about a year now.
Recently, its been blowing air even though the switch is in the Off position.
Does this mean its time to fork out the $150 for the sword?

Nope, depending on the temp of the air coming out of the vents, one of the control modules and/or the heater valve have gone bad.
Hot air? Replace the heater valve first, could still be the control module or the interface/dash part.

handles if stuck closed will cause the blower to run all the time even in the off position. The rest of what you say regarding the blower only working on high is consistent with a sword going bad.http://www.bimmernut.com/%7Ebillr/images/swordrelay.jpg
Thats the relay in the handle in the above pic.

Here's the schematic for the sword itself, you can see how the relay bypasses the sword and runs the fan on high.http://www.bimmernut.com/%7Ebillr/images/swordschematic.jpg

If I turn the switch to HI and wait for about 10 seconds and I return the switch to the off position, the blower will go off....But eventually it will come on again and I have to repeat the steps to turn it off. Does this sound like the control module?
