My wreching buddy Take just found another nice object. 1991 Alpina, one out of abt. 310 cars.

Only about 5.000 EURO 119.000 km= approx. 75K miles. Nice points to bargain price down and easy fix. Headliner hangs down ,easy fix for us.
Costs here about 1.000 EURO, and we can do it ....
One alarm for cat too hot (special only on Japanese version, it has a temp. sensor at the rear of the cat and gives alarm if temp rises over certain degrees. Had that once on my car. Instead of a complete new cat I paid 25 EURO for a temp sensor

Even if we have to invest some more money like in new cats, we could use the parts from our other cars.
Take, let's have a closer look at that car. ;-)
Just asked my wife Suzy. She says why not, it is better than hanging around in bars and drink.

So if I punched in the conversion right, that's a bit over $6000 US dollars? Wow, that's a bargain. A guy I know just priced a Alpina E34 lip spoiler in the US, it was over $1000. You could just sell the Alpina bits here in the US and turn a profit. Looks like a nice car though with a bit of work. You guys get all the good cars.

That's right, cars are quite cheap here at the moment due to the high fuel price now. And if there are small thing to repair on these old cars, dealers usually do not touch them, because they need the expensive place/space for 'better' cars, or let's say younger cars which are usually sold here. A car with an age of more than 6 years is usually going to the big auction markts in the shipping ports like Kobe, where they will be bought by agents for shipment to AUS, NZ, Middle East (the better ones) and the rest goes to Pakistan, Africa etc.
I just got an inquiry from someone who has frequent container shipments of other goods from Japan to overseas, and he is really interest in parts of the cars we have now, especially the L-versions of the E32 and the 2 Highline I have. The rear tables for example cost even in Europe new about 1.000 $ a piece, and there are no Highline in USA. Especially for those tables and the center rear console with the holders in wood for the original BMW glasses are very much in demand. But not many on the market.

Babelfish is cool:
" Because of the stepping stone, you exchanged the windshield to those of the smoke entering."
Or in Haiku form:
For the stepping stone
you exchanged the old windshield
Smoke enters freely
How much power are we talking about here? Turbo, or just Alpina tuning of exsiting parts?

I'm looking at the wear on the driver's seat and pedals, and thinking, "could that really have happened in just 120,000km?"
My car has twice that mileage and not half the wear.
Suspicious, maybe.

The Alpina B12 5.0 has 350 HP, the normal M70 engine has 300 HP.
@Jaylebo:
The kilometers of 119.000 km are quite usual for Japan. My own daily driver 750iL from 11/88 has now 127 k KM, the Highline from 03/1990 I have has 130K km, the other Highline I have has 180 K km, and then I have a parts 750iL from 10/1988 with 180 k km. Then I recently bought another 750iL from 03/1994 (had an accident), it has also around 130 k km.
The km/mileage is low, but the hours the drivers sit in the car are much more, because of the congested traffic here and traffic jam. The seat looks similar to the one in the Highline I have. Still have to restore the leather. Maybe also the climate here has some influence on that. Very hot and humid in summer and dry in winter. That is also because almost every E34 and E32 has the probs with falling headliners. 3M is selling here a special glue for headliner material When I did the one on my 750, I contacted them and they told me that they especially developed a glue for such climate in Asia nd other subtropical countries.
Anyway, I will have a look at the car maybe next weekend. It is about 250 km from my home. And it is for sale since June this year. Big engine cars are not selling very well nowadays here.
I also asked them to send me a pic with the Alpina factory serial number to make sure that it is an original one.
Because the cover on top of the 2 cylinder rows should usually have the Alpina letters on it.
Seats, wheels, door panels and even the colour/paint are Alpina, that is for sure.

I guess that would explain it. I'm sure you know better than I do what's 'normal'. I'm still a bit suspicious, though. :)

Holy moly. I need to meet your wife, Erich -- she must be a very understanding woman!
I agree -- why not?!
;)
And Jay -- that's a sport seat. The bolsters mean it takes a bit more control to get the ass in the seat without rubbing. Fat owner + time = rub the color out of the leather.
It looks fine to me; I wouldn't let any of the <minor> issues prevent the purchase of such a fine car.

Go for it. If I found one such deal, I wouldn't even ask anyone ... I'd just flat out buy it and drive it home.

Heh, okay. I was looking at the pedals, too, which seem quite worn, but I'll defer to your undoubtedly superior knowledge and experience. :)
If this were a Poll and not a Post, I'm pretty sure there would be ZERO votes in the NO column!

The possibility of a Hi-line Alpina B12???
Go on Erich, tell me you have more than ONE CHOICE on the subject :D Nick

Let' see :p
I have received email from someone from overseas who wants to buy parts from me, also bigger parts, as he has almost on a regular basis containers coming from Japan with other goods coming from Japan. So I just would have to send the stuff to an address in Japan and the rest would be his responsibilty, incl. customs export/import declarations etc.
He is especially interested in Highline parts such as the buffalo leather seats with the wallnut tables, rear parcel shelf with sunshade etc.
Sounds to good to be true.
But if so, I could get rid of at least the blue 750iL in parts, send the skelleton of that one to the scrapyard, and bone out the silver Highline and get rid of the remainders. Then there would be place in my garden for the Alpina, and I could slowly work on that one to restore it together with my Highline project.
I am sure they will go down with the price more, as the car is already on offer since June this year.
Needs some repair like the headliner, leather refurbishing etc. but easy jobs. Expensive if you buy new and let the dealer do it, very cheap if DIY and have the place to do it and the time on weekends.
Needs some time. First of all I want to see the Alpina plate from the seller with the original Alpina production number. Usually the engine sound silencer between the cylinders should have Alpina on it, and this one does not have it.

And then I have to drive there to check the car. That is only possible on weekend as a one day round-trip.
Takes weeks to nego and get the price down I think. The longer I wait, the more they go down hopefully. That should be the tactics.

Go for it, it is one sweet alpina, well one thing I don't like green if it was black or blue.... would make it much nicer in my opinion. I'm still pissed about passing an offer on an original Mitsubishi Lancer EvoIV; I think it was made in 98. Imported from Japan in 2004, RHD all legalized (don't know how). The guy wanted only $7K for it. Don't make the same mistake as I did.

have heard that this guy really cared for the car. You can see it in the engine room. And look at the mileage or better to say the km.
It is Alpina production # 0087

that is the adjustment switch for the leg support.
Heater switches for E32 are always on the "inner side"= in LHD cars it is on the drivers side on the right side of the seat, and pass side on left side of the seat.
