im looking at a 535ise in the morning! advise please!!!

i was looking for a 535i as a doner car for mine but one has come up at a good price, and the owner says all it needs is a new front bumper (wife versus gate post)so i might buy to drive! can anyone please give me a pointer of what to look for? common problems etc? also i will do a stomp test but its a bit useless as i dont know what all the codes will mean!!! can anyone post the codes or a link to the codes please, many thanks, daemon p.s thanx for the input on the poll but its an auto (i just couldnt justify the extra cash right now for a manual) i will post pics if i buy!

Compression test (hot AND cold), check that all stuff works and inspect the cooling system, brakes, steering, shifting/clutch, shocks, etc...

Oh yeah, dead body in the trunk = BAD.
