E34 gas lift glove box

To everyone who has a glove box with those gas lift hinges... would it be possible to fit one of those onto an E34 that came with just those nylon belts holding it up? Thanks!

Did it on mine!When I purchased my car (1991 535im) it had only one strap on the left side,I swapped the strap to the right side and added the shock to the left side due to the fact there was easier access to the left side. The upper mount will require a small nut and bolt and is still a pain to get secured but it all worked out well.
I researched and never found a definative answear to which vehicles had shocks and which had merely straps.

Oh! So the shock is a direct replacement of those straps? Cool!!! I've never seen those shocks, so I assumed it was in the back, by the hinge itself! :) If it's a direct bolt on, then that's great! :)
