View Full Version : OT: 2000 Nissan Pathfinder help...

I know, I know...it's for a friend. He's got a 2000 Pathfinder with a pretty nasty oil leak, seems to be coming from the bronze looking doohickey on the left edge of the pic below, left of the oil filter.

Anyone know what this doohickey is, and how to remedy the leak? Or is it possible it could be the cam seal leaking? There is a 17mm bolt on the end of this item, that is as tight as I could get it (read, couldn't budge) using the E34 toolkit last night. Just wondering what it is, and how to go at it. It is a substantial leak at this point, more than I would be comfortable with.

...but that's what I thought it was. It just didn't look like it had enough plates/spacings, etc. to be effective. I see now that it is a oil/water cooler, not oil/air.

That makes sense, and I think I can tackle it for him. That, or let him have the Nissan dealer quote it and then really do it for him!
