What would be a going price for my car???

I just found out yesterday that I will transfered in a few months. So the 535 will have to go to help with a down payment on a new house. What do you think I can get out of it? 1990 535iA with 168,000mile. new heater core, drive line, sachs kit, paint job, and a whole bunch of odds and ends. Ideas on selling price would help me a lot.

I picked up my beautiful '94 540i with 98,000 mi, newer alusil engine, new front suspension, new brakes, etc. for $4500 3 months ago (Chicago). That may have been a good deal, but still, sadly I'm afraid these cars fall into the category of being worth more to the owner than what the owner would ever get selling it (i.e. if you totalled your car, insurance wouldn't give enough $$ to compensate a good-running older car). My 2 cents...

Yeah, almost a year ago, I bought a 1990 535i (slushbox) for $5300 certified/taxes in....since I have invested at least $3000 in repairs, I am afraid to still only have the car be worth about $5000 now.....
No money in cars, but used cars seem to be plenty and unfortunately I swear 90% do not see the value in well maintained cars owned by us "fanatics"
